Position Overview:
EXCELLENCE IN MOTION is seeking a passionate and experienced Multimedia Assistant to facilitate activities with The Student Podcast Program and will work closely with high school students to develop and produce podcast content. This role includes guiding students through the entire podcast production process, from brainstorming and scriptwriting to recording, editing, and publishing episodes. The ideal candidate will have experience in audio and visual production and a passion for mentoring students in media creation. They will help students build technical skills, creative storytelling abilities, and confidence in producing high-quality podcasts.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Podcast Production Support:
- Assist students with the planning and creation of podcast episodes, including topic development, research, and scriptwriting.
- Guide students in recording and editing high-quality audio, ensuring sound clarity and professionalism.
- Teach students how to use audio equipment such as microphones, mixers, and editing software.
2. Audio Editing & Post-Production:
- Provide hands-on instruction in audio/visual editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition, GarageBand).
- Assist students in cleaning up audio, adding music or sound effects, and finalizing podcast episodes.
- Ensure episodes are properly formatted and ready for distribution on various podcast platforms.
3. Student Mentorship:
- Mentor students in podcast storytelling techniques, helping them find their voice and develop engaging content.
- Encourage collaboration and teamwork, fostering a positive and creative environment.
- Provide constructive feedback to students on both technical and creative aspects of their podcasts.
4. Technical Support:
- Maintain and organize podcast equipment, ensuring that recording gear is functioning properly and ready for student use.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during recording or editing.
- Assist in setting up and managing podcast recording spaces.
5. Program Development:
- Work with Media professionals and leaders in the industry to facilitate podcasting workshops and lesson for students.
- Introduce students to industry-standard tools, techniques, and trends in the podcasting world.
- Help promote the podcast program within the school community by creating digital content, social media posts, or PSA features.
6. Event & Live Podcast Coverage:
- Assist in organizing live podcasting events or school-wide podcast showcases.
- Help students produce special episodes covering school events, interviews, or guest speakers.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with high school students or in an educational setting.
- Proficiency in audio editing software (Audacity, Adobe Premiere Pro, Canva, etc.).
- Familiarity with podcasting platforms and audio/visual equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to guide and inspire students.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Experience in sound design, mixing, or podcast production.
- Knowledge of social media and digital marketing to help promote the student podcast.
- Familiarity with storytelling techniques for audio/visual formats.
Compensation:
Hourly pay ranges from $19 to $26, depending on experience.
